Fox Haas, a linchpin in the birth of multi-faceted outdoors industry icon Mossy Oak®, was inducted into the West Point, Miss., Hall of Fame on February 9, 2017. West Point is the home of Mossy Oak and Fox Haas’ residence for over 60 years.
The Hall of Fame award is presented by the West Point Growth Alliance and it recognizes outstanding leaders in the community. Since 1984, individuals who have made a significant contribution to West Point and Clay County, through established history and distinguished service, have earned the honor of being inducted into the West Point Hall of Fame.
“I’ve been lucky to be able to devote time to my friends and family through my work at Bryan Foods and then Haas Outdoors,” said Fox Haas. “I have a deep love for all those I’ve worked with, feeling like they are part of my extended family. I am fortunate that my life’s work has enabled me to reside in West Point and see Bryan Foods then Haas Outdoors flourish in this amazing small town.”
Besides his work at Bryan Foods and Mossy Oak, Fox Haas was an early supporter of West Point’s Oak Hill Academy in the 1960s. He was one of the original founders that chartered a new bank, Clay County Bank and Trust Company, in the 1970s.
While some wanted to move away to big cities in search of a hero and better opportunities,” said Toxey Haas, founder of Mossy Oak, “I was content staying right here in West Point. I had already found my hero.”
Fox Haas has been married to Evelyn for 60 years. They have three children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He cherishes his time with them as they bring joy to his life.
