Alligator season in South Carolina runs from September 8th to Oct. 13th this year and the Department of natural Resources offers classes to help familiarize hunters with the laws, equipment, safety precautions, and disposition of captured gators. They also offer assistance with obtaining the proper permit.
The final class is this Saturday, September 1st at McAlister Square in Greenville. The class starts at 10am and should last about two hours. Participants will reportedly get to sample alligator meat. I've had alligator and it can be pretty tasty when prepared properly.
More information about South Carolina's alligator season can be found at the SC Dept. of Natural Resources website.
