Barrett Edens | Farmhouse Market + Coffee in West Point, MS
The term meatloaf can be off-putting to friends and family due to years of dry, tasteless, ketchup-based, lunch room meatloaf. So, when you invite your friends over try calling it a BBQ longburger steak. Works every time!
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground venison
2 fresh eggs
1/2 cup diced green and white onions
3/4 cup diced bell peppers
1/2 cup cheddar cheese
1 cup panko bread crumbs
1 tbs favorite BBQ rub
1/4 cup favorite BBQ sauce
1/2 cup diced jalapenos (optional)
1 tbs BBQ rub
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in large bowl and mix together except 1 tbs BBQ rub and 1/4 cup BBQ sauce. You want to mix all ingredients thoroughly without overworking the meat. You don't want a dense loaf!
- Spray a baking sheet so it won't stick, and shape the meatloaf so that it is just short of the length of the pan.
- Next, sprinkle the rest of the rub and BBQ sauce on top. Now, put your meatloaf in a pre-heated oven of 375 degrees and enjoy a very good meatloaf. But if you want a great meatloaf, put the pan on your grill or smoker set to 325-375 degrees for about 35 minutes or until done. Let cool and enjoy with your favorite BBQ side dishes.
Fried deer steak is another favorite, southern dish for ground venison. Ground deer meat is incredibly versatile, so be sure to ask for when you have your deer processed.
